evaluation pictures

compare/contrast your lead character with that from a similar themed/ rated film

the main character of our children's film is a young boy named Bertie who hears a bang outside his window late night and finds a magic hat, and puts it on causing he's teddy bear to come to life. in the disney film Mickey the sorcerers apprentice a very similar narrative occurs where mickey mouse finds and puts on the sorcerers hat, he then brings the broom to life and gets it to clean the room.

These two characters both have similar traits as both are intrigued by the hat and so find out the powers of the hat and use it to their advantage to bring objects to life. both of the characters are shown as physically small and wear unusual attire ( Bertie in pyjamas and mickey in a robe). both characters are introduced early to the audience as it gives them something to relate to throughout the film.

analysis of what the target age group could learn/Enjoy about your film

reflecting back on our film we don't feel that there is a clear message portrayed in the film. However if we made a whole film rather than an opening sequence we feel that a message would have been clearly portrayed.

If we were to re do are opening sequence than we would have had a clear message/ moral basis that would be comprised of an anti-discriminative nature as the boy who is ginger would be bullied at school and his magic talking teddy bear mr snuggles would save the day and good would conquer evil.

The children would enjoy the magical elements provided when watching the film such as the magic hat an the talking and flying teddy bear mr snuggles. The young Audience would also like the bright colours used throughout the sequence as this stimulates them and keeps then intrigued as an audience can quickly lose interest.

Our Final Product

Things we didn't like:

One of the things that as a group we are not happy about with regards to are children's film is that we didn't include transitions or cuts in to are children's film when editing. This was largely due to the fact that as a group there were allow of mistakes that lead to our time being eaten up, in shot, bad time management skills. this was predominantly due to the fact that some members of our group were often absent. this lead to miscommunications in the group about who's doing what this lead to us not having the backdrops complete for the first lesson of filming. the voice overs that we imported to or footage wasn't perfectly synced to the video as we didn't have time due to the time management issues outlined above.

Things that we did like:

As a group we were collectively satisfied with or opening sequence as it looked effective and was conducive with the way perceived it be. The characters on the whole turned out well as they perfectly represented the type of character that we wanted them to represent. The backdrops portrayed the picture that we envisaged and added to the story line. We thought that our film was conducive to a typical children's film.
